Hello Trunk or Treaters!

As most/all of you know by now, the Kansas City Royals are in the World Series!  What a great thing to happen for Kansas City and all Royals’ fans – congratulations Royals!

The Royals’ well-deserved success has however, created a time-conflict with our Stilwell Community Organization (SCO) Trunk or Treat event – World Series Game 4 (to be played in San Francisco) and Trunk or Treat are both scheduled for the evening of Saturday, October 25th

After thoughtful consideration and consultation with a number of the volunteer groups and folks who are instrumental to the success of Trunk or Treat, it has been decided that “the show must go on” for our Children and Community - Trunk or Treat is just WAY TOO MUCH FUN – so we will still get FUN AND SPOOKY at the regularly scheduled time and place!  COME ON OUT to Stilwell Elementary School Saturday night and be part of the fun!  The Trunk or Treat flyer is attached here so you can refresh on the details . . . we still anticipate in the neighborhood of 250 Trunk or Treaters – so plan accordingly!

Vehicle decorating will begin at 5:30 pm.  Children will begin Trunk or Treating at 6:30 and the event itself is typically over by 8:30 pm at the latest.  World Series Game 4 is scheduled to begin at 7:07 pm CST.  The average MLB game runs ~3 hours – so based on averages and typical, all those who are interested in watching the game SHOULD be able to catch the back half of the game at the very least . . . and in this amazing age of hand-held electronics I suspect there will be plenty of ways to watch the game WHILE the kids Trunk or Treat . . .

SCO looks forward to seeing you next Saturday.  If you have questions or comments you can call or e-mail Mike Ward @:  913-488-4246 and michaelward@kc.rr.com

The community-wide trick-or-treating event on October 25, 2014 will be held in the East parking lot at Stilwell Elementary School. Our goal is to FILL the school’s parking lot with decorated trunks for kids to safely “trunk-or-treat” from!  We ask all participants who will be decorating their trunks to please bring enough candy for at least 250 kids.  If your child is going to trunk-or-treat please consider signing up your vehicle!!  By participating you will be guaranteed a parking spot and the joy of knowing you are supporting our local children and community.

Decorating vehicle trunks begin at 5:30pm

Trunk or treating begins at 6:30pm

Listen for the car horn blast to start the event!

(Please do not let your child start before the horn has sounded)

The Stilwell United Methodist Church will be serving FREE Hot Dogs, apples and Bottled Water from 6:15 to 6:45pm in the parking lot!!

Trophies will be judged

(link gives additional information on criteria)

If you are unable to participate but would like to donate candy for the event, please drop the candy in Stilwell Elementary office  Attn: Mike Ward or call Mike @ (913)488-4246 and we will arrange to pick it up.  If you would like to decorate your trunk and need candy, please contact Mike at (913)488-4246 / michaelward@kc.rr.com or Pam DeVuyst, the principal at the elementary school.  They will make sure to get you candy if you are concerned about the expense of buying candy.  Do not let that be a reason for your family to not participate and decorate a trunk!  Contact Pam (confidentially) and she will get you taken care of.
